Steven Kroft assumed the presidency of the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba in June, 2011 – for a two-year term. He succeeded Ed Shinewald as president.
A lawyer by training, Kroft joined the family business, Conviron, in 1997. Now president of the company, having succeeded his father Richard, who was appointed to the Senate of Canada in 1998, Conviron, Kroft says, “designs and manufactures controlled environments in rooms that control light, humidity CO2, and other gases to very precise degrees that researchers around the world use to test for agricultural research”.
Steven and his wife, Lisa, have two boys – Alex, who is 11, and Nathan, 14.
